Castle Town / Re: Festival Of The Fallen (Introduction Thread, Come Join.)
« Last post by Vaati on April 16, 2018, 11:34:08 pm »
"Indeed, Brim, I would agree that it is quite inspiring to see youthful folk take responsibilities seriously" Vaati nodded, allowing Brimick to go and greet the Twili. If they weren't causing trouble there was no cause to act. Perhaps they were the more mild mannered sort, or at least keenly aware of their surroundings.

Speaking of one's surroundings, Vaati caught Sivilu's gaze, and returned the nod with a small friendly wave. In a costume as goofy and gaudy as the one he currently wore, it was pretty hard to miss Vaati if you knew him.

Turning his attention over to Medla. "So they are protective of you for some reason then? You seem capable enough to at least do cursory searches nearby your place of residence or something along those lines. Do you perhaps have any Rito comrades? Maybe they can tell you more." Vaati reassured with an extra spark of enthusiasm. If there was one thing he could applaud in anyone; it was the thirst for knowledge, truth, and an innate curiosity. "Perhaps I could be of some assistance, particularly if you come across trouble? I might not look like much, but I know how to work magic. If all else fails, a good potion or enchantment brew could also be helpful to your quest."

More merriment began to brew as several more notable faces appeared in the crowd. A strange and endearingly excitable red-head by the looks of things— at least somewhat proficient in a form of wind based magic.

Nearby, Raven once again excitedly exclaimed upon seeing another that he was supposedly acquainted with, and hearing him call out made Vaati double take. 'Wait, Mipha?' Sure enough, the royal red scales and somewhat short stature for the Zora sub-species she was more or less confirmed any suspicions. 'What in the world is she doing all the way out here... Surely she isn't here just for the festival?'

Ruminating on those thoughts for a moment, Vaati caught the sight of some trouble. A small troop of Hylian guards converged upon an otherwise docile member of the crowd; that one Twili Colossus from earlier. What was their problem? He wasn't doing anything at all besides existing at this point. "Excuse me, Medla, I have some ignorance to quell." Vaati said as he swiftly semi-glided along the ground towards the scene of awkwardness. Vaati had caught the end of the conversation and was quite pleased to see that while obviously offended in some manner, as they should be, the Twili was capable of being reasonably calm. Brimick acted similarly, bringing up good points. 'Monsters' and those of 'evil' would indeed typically behave that way at least 87.76% of the time, and Vaati knew that. "Unfortunately, I know not of any potion or other medicine that cures baseless bigotry such as this." Vaati added calmly. "A dedication to one's profession, craft or position is commendable. Laziness, tomfoolery and abuse of position is not." Though stern, Vaati was not without his kindness, it always payed to see the other side of the story. "Good sir it is a day of festivities, what could possibly have the guard so wound up all of a sudden?"

Brimick smiled as he saw the Twili mimic his greeting, before his attention was dragged away by the guards "Oh my, I go by what this polite "Monster" as you called him has said, he was minding his own business if he truly a monster he would of attacked as he entered, truly he came here to look at the sights and sounds along with the festive feeling of tonight, I will not stand by while someone innocent is being accused by being something that they are not." Brim stood stamping his foot as he went up to the guard using his body as a shield imposing all of his bulk toward the guard.

Galte sat quietly and observed the happenings, pondering how to get involved. For now, he felt the role of an observer was fine. It was only when a rock-like fellow approchaced him that a new role was designated. Galte smiled behind his mask, unable to be seen by anyone. "Apologies, but no. I haven't seen combat. I've readied myself for it, true, but my homeland has been peaceful for quite some time. It is, however, a pleasure to meet you, Brimick." Galte emulated his chest pound, a little off tempo. He slowly floated to his feet. "This is my first time in your world, I admit." He started to explain himself to a frienndly looking face just as a group of guards approached.

Accusing him of a monster, seeking to chain him up for the crime of existing. Galte felt a ripple of anger run from head to toe. He needed to think of a correct course of action. They mentioned iron. He wasn't familiar with the material so it was best to assume he couldn't break it. Before he could any further, he was alone with a single guard, the rudest of the bunch. Galte turned to the Goron. "Excuse me a moment."

He placed a hand on the shaking guards shoulder and moved fluidly, attempting to push him to the ground. "Yes, because a monster sits quietly, enjoys the sights and sounds and minds his own business. Is that your criteria? I'd recommend looking instead for the troublemakers that single out someone for looking different." The hulking Twili spoke gently, body tensed for further combat. He moved to walk away however, preferring a more peaceful evening then needless bloodshed. Galte knew he wouldn't loose to such a tiny human.

Raven hung on Sivilu's every word, it was quite clear he was under her spell enchanted by just about everything about the commanding Gerudo. Hearing she needed local ingredients he offered his sword with no hesitation. "I happen to know a place where the Octorocks are plentiful. If you'd like I could escort you there once the festivities are ov....." Before he could finish Sivilu cut him off and hurried away, Link held out an arm to try and stop her but she had already vanished into the crowds. Before he could loose himself in thought as to why his love hurried off he was greeted by another familiar face, his face lit up with joy seeing his old friend Mipha again. He closed his fingers into a fist pounding it over his heart before offering a bow back much the same as she did.

"By Hylia, Princess Mipha! I wasn't expecting to find you all the way out here at Hyrule Castle; off playing hooky again are we? Reminds me of the days in out youth when we'd sneak away from the Domain during your sister's lessons." Raven gave a hearty chuckle before raising his mask sitting it on the side of his head. "She'd never forgive me if she knew I put that idea in your head. As for the festival it's a foreign custom of a far off culture and it's the first time it's been celebrated here in Hyrule. The general idea is the lanterns help guide the ghosts into the afterlife while the masks scare off evil spirits, it's quite the odd custom but the townsfolk seem to love it and it dose my heart well to see little ones openly embracing new cultures even if it's just an excuse to eat sweets and skip school. The real reason is to honor the scared dead so their souls no longer linger in our world."

He pointed towards the mask sitting on the side of his head while donning a nostalgic smile. "I'm surprised you don't remember, this little guy was a popular character from our childhoods. It was called a Keaton, it was a type of mystical fox that loved quizzical questions and playing tricks on unwary people. You're mask is quite charming to, it's something you could hold onto and reuse at a royal ball." Taking a moment to bask in Mipha's grace he decided open up to his old friend.

"Lady Mipha, the woman you saw rushing off just now; I've fallen for her. We met a month ago in the Gerudo Desert, I had just slain a mighty serpent but at a great cost to myself; I'd been bitten and it's venom was slowly poisoning my body. Stranded out in the desert with nowhere else to go I was forced to sneak into Gerudo Town. I'm well aware no men are allowed within their walls but had I abided by their laws, I'd not be talking to you right now. I snuck into a local potion shop looking for anything to tend to my wounds. Soon the venom caught up with me and I passed out, as everything faded to black I couldn't help but think I was drawing my final breath. However Madam Sivilu saw to my wounds and I woke up in her bed; when I awoke it was like a silver haired angel was watching over me. Needless to say I’ve grown quite fond of her and hope to ask for her hand in marriage when I feel the time is right.”

The worldly knight seemed at peace speaking that last line, looking into the heavens up at the stars above and the colorful lanterns hanging above. After taking a moment to bask in bliss he offered the reddish princess his arm gesturing towards the stalls. “Forgive me Mipha, I’ve indulged in my ramblings for far too long. Allow me to escort you about the festival. Shall we start with food? You must be famished after the journey.” He took pause looking at the odd fellow dashing about town like he was a gust of wind, when he rushed past Link held onto his cap to prevent it from flying off in the rush. “Looks like that fellow is ecstatic about the festivities to. What an interesting chap, come lets get you some food then introduce ourselves.”

As Link offered to escort the princess about the festival a small contingent of guards noticed the hulking Twilight monster and rushed towards it. The leader of the trio held up his spear and spat at the monster’s feet. “We don’t take kindly to monsters here in Hyrule. Men fetch some irons! You must be stupid as you are ugly, foul monster.” The other two ran off to fetch restraints big enough to contain the powerful brute; this was a grave error as it left the captain alone with the gentle Twili. The Captain looked up at the giant realizing the error in judgment he’d made as he started to shake, his armor clattered while he trembled in fear.

Given her position as both a princess and a warrior, Mipha didn't really find much time to go out and enjoy things that most others would, but today she wanted a change from that, today she would escape from her training and duties to enjoy the ongoing festival and have a little fun, she promised herself this wouldn't become a regular thing earlier but for now her focus was on enjoying the festival!
Entering over the drawbridge the princess' face filed with soft delight at seeing children with decorated masks and colourful lanterns lighting up the court yard, for a moment she watched the children run around and play before then moving on even more into the festival. Now that she was here she wanted to enjoy every bit of the festival that she could and she was going to start by getting herself one of those lovely masks! It wouldn't take a lot to find a stall that sold some either, so swiftly she'd pay for the first one to take her fancy which looked like a mask made up of two golden coloured fish which helped to bring out her eyes.

With a mask now sorted, she would almost skip off to other stalls, taking in all the things she could possibly do in her time here, the smells were all delicious and different and the lanterns looked wonderful how they were set out! But which foods should she try first? She probably should save bigger meals for later so that she could fit in more of the littler things and get a taste of more things here. Still pondering, she'd finally reach a fountain in the center of town, she'd give a polite and rather cheerful smile along with a friendly wave to the lady Gerudo as she passed before then almost literally stumbling across Sir Raven himself. "Well I'll be!" She exclaimed in a delighted surprise, lifting up her golden mask for a moment to get a proper look at him and so that he could see her properly in turn, "Is that you Raven?" She'd ask, placing one hand to her chest before then giving him a bow in greeting to be polite. "It has been quite some time hasn't it? It's good to see you again. I heard about the Festival of the Fallen and simply had to come and see for myself what it was all about, although I'm already having trouble trying to decide what food to enjoy first" She would then give a playful smile upon getting a better look at his mask, "I quite like the look of your mask there, it's rather cute!"

That knowing smile of hers stretched into a somewhat of a mischevious smirk, remembering the two weeks they had spent together was quite the adventure , "How wonderful, it warms my heart to know that I have been able to provide you with adequate  treatment." she purred before continuing, "Hmmm, perhaps you are right. With what has happened so far I look forward to whatever the divines have in store for us in future~"

Her expression melted into a softer one when he took one of her hands to kiss and whilst in doing so she continued to strum the cords of her Oud with her other hand; still maintaining a balance on the instrument between her arms and her body.

"Ah yes, I've heard of this festival and from the looks and especially the sounds of it, I am not disappointed." she regaled whilst basking in such pleasant company and then smoothly took back her hand from his lips in order to raise one of the long layers of clothing coverhing her shoulder and arm; all the while still trummning against the strings of her instrument with the other hand. Beneath such clothing were three small glass vials strapped to a belt at her hip. Each one had their own small stirring rods which swirled the liquid contents in tangent with the rhythms of her Oud, "I am in search for one last ingredient which is rare in my homeland but is somewhat common here. Essence of Octorock. I have to keep playing for these potions to keep stirring and the added vibrations from the music and ambience of the festival increase its potency whilst being brewed. Being able to enjoy your company along with it is but another bonus."

Her eyes slid down to gaze upon the yelloe mask, "Oh such a sweet thing." she remarked warmly and when she heard his next comment  Sivilu couldn't help but let out a light laugh, "Ahohohoho! But now I am not sure which of the two is sweeter, but something tells me that the latter just may be so."

It was then she looked up and noticed another familiar face, Vaati, someone whom she had met up with regarding business matters. Should he catch her gaze she would nod once at him as a greeting.

As more gathered about the festival, Sivilu bowed her head slightly, "Excuse me for a moment, Sir Raven." she murmured before readily gettimg back onto her feet and slipped away to disappear amongst crowds.

High in the sky above the festival, a young man seated on a flying carpet looked down at the lights of Castle Town below and checked his atlas. "Yep, this is the place! Hyrule here I come!" He stood up on the magical rug and directed it to fly down in the darker parts of the town out of sight of the people. The rug obeyed his command and dived down to the ground below, Vaatu gripped the thick fabric with glee as they descended at an incredible speed only to slow to a stop at the last minute. "Whoo! That was fun! Much better than the last one. Good thing you avoided the clotheslines this time." He laughed, hopping off his ride. The carpet hovered then as its master held out his bag of holding, the rug rolled up and dropped into the bag. One would be amazed that a bag so seemingly small could contain such a large item, but that was magic for you.

Vaatu skipped down the alleyway and squeezed through two booths and took in the sights and smells. Ah, this was delightful! He had heard stories of Hyrule and its splendor but to actually experience it firsthand was what he dreamed about. "Festival of the Fallen... I've read about that." He said to himself, recalling the pages describing the meaning behind the event, however, his attention was drawn away by a booth containing masks. "OH MASKS! I must buy one!" Probably faster than would deem a normal pace, Vaatu dashed over to the booth leaving a strong gust of wind in his wake, bystanders would exclaim in alarm as their clothes and anything easily blown away would be swept off their heads or in their hands.

The mask salesman would raise a brow at the bouncing strangely clothed young man in front of him, but he smiled anyway. "Hello there, would you like a festival mask?"

"Yes, please!" Vaatu said with vigor, then scanned the masks, trying to decide on what he wanted. He was torn between the one that looked like a white one with the red eye on it or the cream hood with the rabbit ears. Oh, he really liked the rabbit one but... the white one was just calling to him. "I'll take the white one with the red eye, please!"

"Alrighty!" The salesman took down the mask and held it out. "One Mask of Truth, that'll be 20 rupees!"

Vaatu smiles and handed him a small red rupee. "Thank you very much!" He said, slipping on his mask, then turned his head quickly. "What is that smell?!" It was absolutely delightful! He was gone in another burst of air, screeching to a halt in front of the cookie woman's booth. Before she could say anything he pointed to the bag of the cookie snaps. "Hello, how are you today, ma'am! I would like to have one of you good smelling food treats, please! How much?" He rushed out in his excitement.

"Er eh uh..." The elderly woman blinked then smiled, "50 rupees, young man." Vaatu grinned and paid her the price then the picked up one of the chocolate snaps. He never had one of these before. Needless to say, one explosive bite later, he was hooked. "What is this?" He asked eyes wide and almost crying from pleasure.

"Uh... Chocolate?" The woman assumed by the strangeness of the man's mannerisms and attire, she assumed correctly that he was a foreigner. "Do you like it?" At her question, the young man nodded, eyes still wide. She chuckled and watched as he walked away in a chocolate daze, what a strange yet endearing young man.

Character Biographies / Vekim
« Last post by Vekim on April 11, 2018, 10:25:26 pm »
Name: Vekim
Title: The Blood striped Sea Devil, Captain of the Bloodhound and her crew The Bloodied Demons
Race: Zora
Subspecies: River Zora; Geozard
Gender: Male

(Note some things in this Bio may change just need to wait for Bolt to get back to me)

First What is a Geozard?
Geozards are a subspecies of river zora unlike river zora they are usually more muscular in appearance instead of slender, bigger in size, a bit more reptilian and do not have tails like some River Zora do (Since some River Zora in areas have tails depending on the water systems they live in), Geozards can be found in almost all waters and have a more tolerance adaptability to the sea water, unlike both Ocean and River Zora the Geozards leaders are Chieftains who are red in colour and need to have be in a group of Geozards to retain the red. Just like their parent spiece they can spit fire at their opponents, they can go on land like that of a River Zora can without slowing down, unlike River they carry weapons and shields with them making them always come out of the water to attack it's rare to see one attack like other Zora will in the water.

Bio:
Vekim hatched in a river that ran into a vast ocean after he finished getting out of his egg he started to eat the rest of his siblings who were still in their eggs or hatching to his tribe that watched on as he did they saw it as a omen unsure if it was ill or a blessing omen they raised him anyway, as the years went on he started to go out in the ocean by himself to hunt as well as to plunder small ships that didn't expect a lone Geozard to attack he did this constantly to unexpecting ships that went by not headingh the tales. His plundering, killing and hunting prowess made him a name in his tribe due to his skills the chieftain challenged him fearing that Vekim will eventually will call it, the fight was long until the chieftain let his guard down Vekim struck him down at that moment when Victims scales started to turn red to signal that he is the new chief a small army of naval ships found their lair started to kill every single Geozard they could see causing Vekim to stop midway through his changing he started to cut down anything that got in his way in his rage including his tribe members.

After the haze lifted he found that he was the only one left standing he felt no remorse for his tribe, he also reliazed that since he stopped midchange to turning red his scales that did so are now tinted red forever, he left the lair, unable to find a suitable tribe to merge into he started to live alone, still plundering those who dare come near his territory, until the day he met the Zora known as the Scourge if the seas; Alastor a Zora who couldn't care less of the warnings and myth, to Alastor it was a challenge in hoping to find a worthy adversary and he did. Vekim stormed his ship during a storm at the darkest time at night, once he was onboard cutting those who thought to handle him until Alastor challenged him head on Vekim and Alastor fought  for a while until he withdrew smiling  Vekim raored then proceeded to charge at him and as he did a plan unfolded in front of him ropes snared him anchoring him to the ground he roared again in rage as he struggled to break free, as he opened his mouth to spit fire they muzzled him, he then stared at Alastor as he spoke he suggested a ultmatem join his crew or get slaughtered like a pig right there, Vekim took up his offer he saw more glory, riches and killing to be had.
Years went on as a member of the Scourge of the Seas crew and now the first mate to the Scourge himself, being more closer to him also Vekim saw the darker side of him every day as they plundered and drunk seeing him to what he really was Vekim saw that his greatness with him will not expand he left the crew and Alastor to be even more of a infamous name than he. At first he gained his own crew 'The Blooded Demons', ship 'Bloodhound' and he was the captain of it all as he did he made a title for himself; 'The Blood striped Sea Devil' he and his crew however became mercenaries after they stashed all their treasure away in a unmarked location that only Vekim and his first mate only knows about, the reason for this more money in their pockets, hardly going to been on wanted posters anymore, more renown, pirates and scum fear them even more, also more head cracking. Now they are a mercenary crew they get hired out rarely are hired all together or are together at once, this usually means for Vekim he is hired singarly from his crew, the only ones who are not able to be hired out is his first mate who is happy looking after ther ship, their expenses and the crew mates that never will get hired due to those ones being part of the ship crew they are all loyal to Vekim, those who tried mutiny get hung on the side of the ship with their throat slit making the rest know it is foolish to do it against him or his first mate. Due to this mercenary status he has been to many places other than Terminia.

Appearance:
Vekim is a muscular build but looks slim due to how tall he is, he is a pale Geozard with red stripes running across his body due to his cut short change to becoming chief, on his back are black scales, he has various piercings on his fins. Purple eyes, he has a scare running down a few of his fins, he has other scares in different places.

Weapons;
Like most Geozards he can spit fireballs at his opponents, he has a sword known as the 'Gutter', he also has a shield that he designed to strap on his back easily so he can swim freely without slowing down so he can attack in the water.

Character Biographies / Vaatu the Wind Wanderer
« Last post by Vaatu Derecho on April 10, 2018, 12:23:01 pm »
Vaatu Derecho

Name: Vaatu Derecho
Age: 19 (Adult by LoZ Standards)
Gender: Male
Race: Wind Tribe
Height: 5'7”
Weight: 130 lbs
Build: Lean athletic

General Appearance: Vaatu is a lean man sporting the physical traits of his people e.g. red hair, fair skin, and red eyes. He wears the traditional colors of his tribe. As a tribute to his people's culture, he paints the wind crest in blue on his cheeks, to symbolize his occupation as a traveler.

History:
Vaatu was born in the clouds, he had a happy childhood but despite his parent's and elder's harsh view of the world below, he always had a curiosity to go see it for himself and actually attempted to travel down when he was only a child by stealing his father's flying carpet, but was stopped in time by his father.

Realizing that his hunger to explore the world would not be quelled, his parents promised that they would give their blessing and permission to go only if he mastered all of their magical arts in wind magic, this would guarantee his safety in the cruel world below; he was also instructed on the customs of the land dwellers. Determined to fulfill his dream, Vaatu poured himself into his studies and magic, unlocking great potential inside of him during his years of training.

At last, when Vaatu turned 17, he graduated as an adult from his training. He waited two years before taking his departure, using this time to weave a flying rug for himself and blessing it with the magic it needs to make it an airborne vessel. When he was 19 years of age, he has gathered his supplies and sent on his journey.

Character Strengths & Weaknesses :

Strengths:
  • Magical Being: Magic comes naturally to him, as to all of his people, sometimes he relies on it a bit too much.
  • Marksman: When Vaatu was young he trained himself to use a sling to shoot stones and small projectiles at monsters.
  • Intelligence: Being at top of his magical peers, Vaatu's mind is very developed and is able to recall numerous information from books, texts, and other sources. He also has a fondness for riddles and puzzles.
  • Good with his hands: While he may lack in strength, he excels in physical ingenuity.
  • Superb agility: Vaatu's wind magic can also be used as a levitation aid. He can jump high and far by riding on strong gusts of wind and can slow or deflect falls by creating cushions of air. The constant movement required by this art makes him naturally flexible and agile. Even without magic, he is very acrobatic. He can easily maneuver around an opponent by ducking, jumping, and side stepping, appearing to flow around his challengers without expending any energy at all, letting the opponent tire themselves out and thus creating exploitable openings.
Weaknesses

  • - As strong as he looks: Because Vaatu put himself so much in magic growing up, he never took the time to strengthen his body beyond the basic average need. This gives him a disadvantage to a physical challenge.
  • Somewhat naive: While he's not the gullible gus, Vaatu is a bit naive when it comes to the ways of the land below. The chances of someone taking advantage of his generous nature is great.
  • Claustrophobia – Vaatu hates being in small spaces. When trapped he seeks to get out as fast as possible before he goes into a panic attack
  • Magic Depletion – Once Vaatu's magic runs out, he's cannot use his air abilities until he gets his magic refilled by rest or a potion.

Character Abilities :

1) Wind Magic – Vaatu is able to use his magic to manipulate and control the air around his body for various purposes.

2) Cloud walking – Like the rest of the Wind Tribe, Vaatu's natural magic allows him to be able to walk on clouds.

3) Slinger – Vaatu is very skilled in using the ancient weapon of the sling (not to be confused with the slingshot). He is able to shoot sling-bullets at great distances (300 yards and counting), and hit/kill targets with a single shot.

4) Enhanced speed: Vaatu uses his magic of wind to enhance his movements both in battle and out of battle; he can run swiftly by decreasing the air resistance around his person and even go so far as to sprint across or run up vertical surfaces by generating a wind current behind himself to propel him forward. He can also use this to run many times faster than an average person and maintain this for long periods, allowing him to travel long distances without gliding or jumping.

5) Escape artist – Vaatu is as good as getting into trouble as he is getting out of it. He can turn a nail into a key just as easily as he can work out of some pretty impressive rope work. Vaatu can pick all sorts of locks, and knows his way around some complex knots.

6) Musician – Vaatu plays the ocarina as a past time, he uses this to make a few rupees in the streets on occasion, though most people are more impressed with his magic tricks. He also has an affinity for singing and while his voice is not of siren quality, it is a pleasant sound.

7) Slight of hand – Vaatu dabbles into the parlor tricks of magic with the aid of his quick hands, be it cards or coins, he can make it 'disappear' and reappear in the most obscure of places with ease.

8) Multi-Lingual – Before leaving his home, Vaatu was taught to speak, read, and write in several different languages of the land people e.g. Hylian, Ancient Hylian, Terminian, Picori, Labrynese, Holodrum, and Sheikah. He is currently studying Zora

Items:
Flying Carpet =  An enchanted semi-sentient rug, Vaatu made himself for his journey, it protects its rider when flying them at great speeds and heights, and the rider can control the carpet with their thoughts.

2x Kinstone Bags = Like all of his people, Vaatu uses kinstones for various magical purposes, but Vaatu also likes to fuse them with other people's kinstones to give both of them good luck. Plus it's fun

Bag of Holding = Magical bag for holding a number of items of various sizes and weights effortlessly.

Red Wind Ocarina = A red ocarina he plays a song that calls his friend Zephyr, a giant kargaroc that lets him ride on his back from time to time.

Books = Vaatu is a lover of knowledge and reading, he has a library of books contained in his bag of holding, anything from encyclopedias to foreign romance novels.

Magical Sling = This sling has been blessed with magic to shoot the sling-bullets father than a regular sling, and give the projectiles puncturing quality that can go through armor and/or tough animal hide.

Sling Pouch = Holds the sling and the special stones used.

Medla shrugged "No I haven't I wish to someday but I do not know when or if my parents will let me go there, but I really want to find out who my biological parents are, along with my people and their customs." She smiled then sighed she too did notice the new comer she watched as Brim went to greet him.
