Castle Town / Re: Festival Of The Fallen (Introduction Thread, Come Join.)
« Last post by Sir Raven on June 07, 2018, 12:37:09 am »
Raven took the Gerudo's hand and ushered her towards the beckoning light of the Master Sword's barrier; taking pause for but a moment he noticed the titan's hesitation and called out to him. "Do not give pause my friend, the Master Sword only repels those with darkness in their hearts. You may be different but I've no reason to treat you any differently than these fine folks and neither will my blade." The fog drew closer and closer as the horde of the undead grew more numerous with each passing second. The knight breathed a sigh of relief when both the princess and his lady friend where safe behind the barrier. He walked through the magical shield himself horrified at the gruesome creatures the people of Castle Town had been twisted into, staring as they threw their broken and decaying bodies against the barrier repelling evil. Raven took a moment to collect his thoughts with his allies and those he managed to save needing an exit through the fog. He stepped up to the fountain noticing something odd about the water's consistency as it turned to a clear blue to a crimson red; surely this was a omen of things to come.

During the time Sivilu had disappeared into the crowds of the hustle and bustle of the festival, the Gerudo woman had been preoccupying herself with brewing her potions with the aid of her chosen instrument and also making a few purchases from some merchants in between beats.

She found after making her most recent purchase of a small trinket, she waded through the crowds until the woman had found a less crowded section of the town when the voice had slipped into her mind. At first she looked around herself warily, at first thinking that the supposed Telepath could be nearby. Much to her annoyance, Sivilu had paused her thrumming melodies – causing for her brewing potions to spoil – and quietly slipped a hand over the handle of a weapon hidden beneath the layers of clothing she wore at the ready. The tall woman then rolled her eyes as she heard those words roll over her mind like sheets of velvet.

But like all silken sheets they are so easy to fray and unravel at the ends.

She wasn’t sure if Cia would hear her or not, but she chose to boldly and quite literally speak her mind, ‘You claim to offer salvation from a great peril? How dare you, I say! I think you will be pleasantly surprised with what I am capable of, if you truly are concerned about my wellbeing.’ she began, quickly deciding to retrace her steps and rush back to where she had bumped into Sir Raven and some others; shoving several civilians out of her way as she ran carrying the morbid news. A scowl formed beneath her veil before she had decided to continue anyway, ‘Perhaps you should have done a bit more research on those you wish to propose alliances with, before you make a fool out of yourself! I might have been more tempted if you didn’t think of me as unable to endure catastrophic times and merely judged who I am by the colour of my skin and heritage. Be gone!’

Along the way she had chosen to sprint through an alleyway, hoping for a shortcut. Next thing she knew Vaati’s spell had appeared before her and Sivilu had skidded to a halt. At first she thought it might have been the mysterious Telepath with a reply, but was pleasantly surprised to find that was not the case. She listened attentively. In part of the message she was rather amused by his observations between the pair, curious as to why Raven disliked him before growing stern once again as she was reminded of the prophesised doom and with a nod of acknowledgement – not really caring if Vaati would ‘see’ it or not – she resumed her running once again; this time with even more purpose.
“Looks like I wasn’t the only one the Telepath contacted.”  she murmured to herself.

Soon enough the town around her was under attack by an ominous fog and as she drew near she heard that familiar voice instructing those near him to a barrier by the town’s fountain. Her hands reached into the layers of clothing behind her and unsheathed twin swords as she ran; feet pounding the ground as the subtle tremors from the unfortunate fell victim to the assault upon the town all around her.
“Raven!” she bellowed out once he was in sight, “I know, we all are. Now’s not the time to explain, let us make haste!”

Galte Bowed gently to Vaatu. He turned back to Vaati. Galte appreciated the Wind Mage's offer, but remained in hyrule castle.. He'd need to deal with this, this was his home now and he needed to find his place. If the guards were unjust, perhaps the ones above them wouldn't be. There was also that offer in his head. As the winds parted and Galte was left standing alone he turned back to the guards, ready to handle the situation appropriately. He **** his knuckles.

As he turned to handle the guards, a strange fog poured down over the land, people began coughing violent, blood and bile covered the streets. Galte recoiled in horror, was this what CIa wanted to do!? He was suddenly glad he asked more questions. This was too far. This was harming innocents. He glanced around quickly as some of the corpse like inhabitants began to approach. When all seemed to fall to darkness, a light burst from the ground by the fountain. Galte looked over, seeing the man in green clothes. The twili lifted himself up over heads of the creatures, trying to avoid the fog as he drew nearer.

Galte froze however at the edge of the light. Would this kill him, cause him harm? He was a creature of the shadows and fading light, standing in the sun wasn't where he belonged. He looked at the others inside the protective zone, watching them, almost asking for permission to enter.

One moment he hastening towards the gates and the next moment he was running as fast as the wind could take him, which was pretty dang fast. 'That fog, this wind. It's poison, I cannot be touched by it!' He saw what it was doing to people, and then the poes started appearing, clawing at him to try and pull him into the toxic fog. "BACK! NO! SHOO!" He blasted one away from him and then saw a couple getting dragged by 3 more. Maneuvering his arms, he created a ball of swirling air he jumped on and guided his temporary ride to the civilians. He quickly brought out his sling and shot 3 well-aimed stones at the poes. Direct hit, Vaatu reached down and grabbed the pair by the backs of their clothes and flew them over towards the barrier. He saw more people that needed help but he couldn't stop, he knew if he did his own efforts would be wasted.

Finally, he reached the barrier, he threw the two unceremoniously inside and reached deep into his bag of holding. The colorful fabric of his flying carpet was drawn forth and the enchanted item knew its master was in danger, it quickly swept Vaatu up and the red mage clung tightly as he shot into the sky towards the closing hole in the black fog, flying at a neck-breaking speed. He made it! He cleared the dome of fog and only chanced a look back when he knew he was high and far enough away from Castle Town.

"To curse an entire town like that. Just what kind of evil is this kingdom facing?" He hovered a moment there. He had read of the legends Hyrule had recorded, tales of evil rising up only for the chosen hero to come and save the people, Vaatu wondered if history would repeat itself or if Hyrule was to be lost in this new darkness. "if it's not stopped, other lands will be affected and if that happens... what of my people?" the tribesman could not bear at the thought of seeing what he loved destroyed. He shook his head. "I have to help stop this. I'm no chosen hero but perhaps there can be something I can do." He thought and thought and then had an idea. "That wind mage. Perhaps I can find him." Granted it was a half-baked idea, but he couldn't do this alone, and the more the merrier, they say.

With this decided, he flew further across Hyrule listening to the wind for guidance.

Watching the horrific events unfold shocked Raven as he was prepared for a physical enemy not an overpowering scourge of the undead. He grabbed Mipha's arm and quickly pulled her to the center of town as he climbed into the fountain. Climbing atop the structure he drew his mighty Master Sword and plunged the blade into the ground as it glowed with a golden light; the triforce crest on the back of Sir Raven's left hand was glowing as he channeled the protective power into the blade. Upon opening his eyes a magical blue barrier formed around the fountain that seemed to be fighting the fog off. Raven quickly tugged on Mipha's wrist pulling her into the fountain before speaking sternly. "The Master Sword wards off evil in all it's forms so we'll be safe here. Mipha, please I release we are faced with an enemy but these are still the fair people of our town; there may yet be a way to reverse these effects and undo this horrible transformation. Ready your trident and protect yourself but please do not kill them, knock them back and break their bones if need be." Link looked back to Mipha his eyes filled with determination he spoke. "I will not allow this vile injustice to claim another life. I'm going to round up survivors and horde them back here.....Please do the same and stay out of this fog at all costs Princess!" Sir Raven gallantly dashed off and started sending survivors towards the barrier.

"People! Hear me please, head towards the blue barrier by the fountain you'll be safe there." After informing as many people as he could he would leave the rest to Mipha, he had something dear to him he was at risk of loosing. Link hurried to the unaffected parts of town cupping his hand around his mouth while shouting. "SIVILU! SIVILU!!!! Please answer me, you're in great danger!" He busted open door after door with a shoulder barge only to find huddled children that he guided towards the barrier. His eyes grew weary with panic as he called out her name again. "Sivilu!"

Cia wanted to wait until a more dramatic time of the night to unleash her plague but it had seems the little mind mage had forced her hand. She was furious that Vaati had swept away those she promised to save and to make matters worse he alerted the hero to her scheme. No matter it was all trivial in the end as she would put her plan into action now. The clouds covered the moon ensure no light would break through the heavens above as a black fog rolled in from over the hills. This fog was thick and almost impossible to see through and to make matters worse it traveled to the town on a cold wind. The chilling winds blew the flames flicking within the lanterns out eliminating any protection the people of Hyrule Castle had against evil entities and curses. The fog rolled in slowly at first causing people to pause but panic soon followed, it seemed unnatural and almost sentient as it went about engulfing the town. The black mist started slowly enveloping the town from the outside forming a circle that slowly got smaller and smaller. Those who were caught in the nightmare mist fell to the ground and begun to break out into violent coughing fits. Those who were unaffected stayed behind to help their friends and slowly started to suffer the same fate; seeing this those who were wiser ran to the center of town screaming wanting to avoid the same fate as the others.

That wouldn't be the end of the fogs effects however, once the fits of coughing had ended the people afflicted began coughing up blood and what came next could only be described as unspeakable acts of evil. Those stricken ill by the fog would have their healthy bodies morph and violently contort into an anorexic frame with equally as horrifying decaying skin; their faces hidden behind wooden masks that manifested thanks to whatever magic was causing this. These newly twisted creatures that strongly resembled Zombies or Redeads would moan and howl as they dragged what little of the unaffected townsfolk into the fog to join them. To make matters worse the fact the festival had concluded early angered the dead and the souls of the dead began to float about the town whaling aiding the walking corpses in adding to their numbers. There was a small area at the center of town where the survivors were gathering to escape fog, that would be the safest place for now.

Despite being in the woods far away from town that same seductive voice echoed within Vaati's mind. "Don't think yourself clever, you've only hastened their demise and saved a handful of people. By the time this night is done, young mage YOU WILL REGRET YOUR ACTIONS!" And with that the voices stopped only leaving the evil fog to consume the castle capital of Hyrule.

Raven turned a slight shade of pink with Mipha on his arm as she gave him romantic advice; he brought his free hand to his mouth as he cleared his throat before speaking. "You're right, I am getting ahead of myself a date would prove a solid first step. You must forgive me Mipha but I've never felt this way about a woman before; she's nothing like the farm girls that swoon and faint as I approach and smile, I fear this time the shoe may be on the other foot." Raven escorted Mipha towards the sweets stand and purchased her an ice-cream covered in gummy fish, he thought the fishy shape was amusing and knew that the Zoran Princess would get a kick out of it. As he handed her the cone Raven couldn't help but feel a little like a kid again as Mipha's open offer to help win the Gerudo's affections made her seem like a big sister of sorts. While it was true Raven was a stern knight who was not to be taken lightly in battle he at times seemed like a puppy while in the company of friends.

Mipha's mention of Vaati made Link's features drop to an unimpressed glare. "Of course he did." The knight spat out severely annoyed this mysterious figure had close ties to both the woman he loved and his oldest friend. Whenever Vaati was concerned Link was instantly put into a foul mood because of their past transgressions. He pointed toward's Mipha's treat suggesting she eat it before it melts. He gave a gentle wave to the man running the ice cream cart before guiding the red Zora over towards the games. "You'll love this, It's an archery game. I remember you always wanted to learn how to shoot a bow but never got a chance because they are uncommon in Zora culture. Well now's your chance, you'll be an even more fearsome combatant with a mastery of archery at your side." Link picked up a bow to hand it to Mipha but before he could use it to explain the finer points of archery he was interrupted by Vaati again! His eyes glazed over in annoyance as the vile man talked; he crossed his arms and listened well. He wasn't shocked to hear the guards were harassing those they deemed as different; during his time under the throne a truly righteous knight was a rare find, Raven counted maybe ten in total among his comrades that were deserving of their title and station. Had he been alerted earlier he'd have put his biases aside and had worked alongside the mage to prove a point however that time had passed. When he dropped the comment about Raven's abrupt exit causing Mipha to release his arm he growled under his breath. "He just couldn't leave that alone. This Vaati and I shall have a stern conversation later however more pressing issues are on the horizon." He thought to himself as he started to glance around the town noticing the group with the mage had vanished.

Link nodded pacing around Mipha protectively as he came up with a plan. "No, we can't allow whatever is coming to ruin the festivities. This is a sacred sheikah holiday and it's first year within Hyrule's borders, to end the celebration before the night is over could start a war with the Sheikah. They'd see it as an insult to their culture and come to distrust the king. To make matters worse if the ritual is not completed it could anger the dead and I do not wish to bring the wrath of the departed onto the good people of this town." He pointed towards the draw bridge getting an idea as he saw the moat. "We'll take up a defensive position at the entrance of town. The drawbridge has a moat so you'll be in your element, perhaps we can use the water to wash the incoming threat away." Link's hand hovered over the hilt of his sword as he used the other to gesture for Mipha to follow. However the knight's valiant efforts thanks to Vaati's warming would be wasted.

Before Vaatu could get his answers he had been rudely shoved. He easily regained balance and his usual bubbly, child-like countenance took a backseat to irritation and logic. He did not care to be treated that way. Not in the least. "You're making a cumulonimbus out of an altocumulus." he said plainly to the captain, "You are not casting the best light on a great kingdom like Hyrule with your behavior."

He would have said more but suddenly the wind picked up and he recognized it for wind magic. Vaatu turned his eyes to the source of the energy becoming transfixed on the handsome violet mage. 'I thought my people were the only ones who could control the air like that.' His own wind magic reached out and acted as a conductor, redirecting the powerful blast of air away from his body so he wouldn't get blown off his feet like the guards.

Vaatu watched in delight when Vaati lifted the oppressed in the air to safety and poofed into thin air. "Oh, that was cool. I want to learn that spell." Teleportation was always so convenient. The red wind tribesman regarded the guards a moment and made a casual sweep of his hand, a subtle cast of his own magic on the wind. He may have aided the current breeze keeping them back and may or may not have increased its velocity to a 'captain of the guard'-knocking-down speed temporarily in a sort of payback of being shoved. His child-like countenance was back with a rather immature retaliation.

Now with that in play, he figured it would be best for him to leave and explore the rest of Hyrule. Vaatu quickly turned and strode at a quick pace away from the armored men.

Medla nodded frantically she didn't want to be locked up the thought of it what will her parents think the thought worried her she told them she will be fine with Brim, she shut her eyes to reopen them again finsing her self next to Brim who was watching Vaati send a cyan glow into the air from his mouth "I was thinking what you said Vaati I will make that journey in hoped that we do it together." She smiled to Brim and Vaati "But first we need to get out of this trouble."
